About
Gender Equality Online (GEO) is an Australian online forum dedicated to creating a constructive dialogue about gender issues in Australia and abroad.
The site is an opportunity for those interested in the world of gender politics to openly share information and useful resources. More importantly it is about dialogue. It is an open forum for anyone interested in gender issues to have an open discussion about situations, debates or ideas.
GEO is supported by the Australian National Committee for UN Women (UN Women Australia) who saw a lack of opportunity for people interested in gender and development in particular, to discuss and debate issues which were important to them. While the site is hosted by UN Women Australia, it is hoped that the site will provide a gateway for greater debate, dialogue and information sharing about gender issues more broadly.
Gender Equality Online features:
Discussion Forums for you to have your say, start a debate or share an interesting article. The forums are the broader issues that are presented for discussion i.e. Women’s Leadership and where multiple discussions can take place. Within each forum are “Topics” that are selected and created by you! You choose the topics and present the information. All you have to do is pick your forum and either click on an already existing topic or click “New Topic” to create your own.
News updates about what is happening at UN Women Australia and international updates on gender issues around the world.
Resources which allow you to upload your own research! Ever wanted to share your ideas and research? Get feedback on what people think and start a debate? This could be the place to do just that. UN Women Australia will also be updating this area with factsheets, research reports, working papers and other interesting materials that will give you information about a wide range of gender topics.
Directory for information about International and Australian based organisations, a wide variety of blogs and social media outlets, as well as suggested reading materials relating to gender and development debates.
Blogs are where you can hear personal updates about UN Women’s work overseas and in Australia. UN Women Australia has received overwhelming support from young people across Australia eventually leading to the creation of Young UN Women Australia groups based in each state alongside our UN Women Australia Chapters. Hear about the work that our Sub-Committee and Chapter participants are undertaking across the country and learn how you can get involved. Also, you can read about the work that Australian Youth Ambassadors for Development are doing with UN Women offices and partner organisations overseas.
